A must-see is the old town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße with its medieval alleys and the historical marketplace. Here you will find numerous stores, restaurants, the historic collegiate church and the beautiful half-timbered houses that invite you to linger. Here you can feast, shop or simply drink a spritzer.

Every year, the German Wine Route is pink in March and April and enchants thousands of tourists. Let yourself be surprised – besides the dreamlike scenery – by the programs of the wine houses and wineries and do not miss to visit the Gimmeldinger Mandelblütenfest, which lasts several days. Of course, this festival is also a wine festival and is considered the first of the year.

Christmas in the Palatine

For more than 30 years, the Christmas market in Deidesheim has attracted numerous of tourists and locals. It is one of the most romantic in Germany, which is certainly also due to the historic setting of Deidesheim. The market is even ranked among the five most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany, Austria and Switzerland according to the newspaper „Welt am Sonntag“.

In the Palatinate there are many wine festivals, but the German Harvest Festival with the German Wine Festival Parade, which looks back on more than 100 years of tradition, is undoubtedly spectacular: Up to 200.000 visitors have lined the parade route in recent years. The focus is always on the Romans, who brought the wine to the Palatine 2000 years ago – in addition to the annually crowned wine queen.

Dürkheimer Giant Barrel

The largest wine barrel in the world, the Dürkheimer Riesenfass in Bad Dürkheim, is certainly worth seeing. The historic, rustic restaurant welcomes guests and offers regional, German cuisine.
